Alabama TAP Cohort
Montgomery , AL
AL COHORT LEADER: Marsha Kluesing, Au.D., CCC-A
Current work: spreading the information on the continuing education program of inter-professional webinars for Pharmacists, Podiatrists, Dentists, Optometrists, and Audiologists to our state agencies and professional groups. Alabama TAP cohort was excited to support the 2019 Webinar Series. The first goal of TAP in Alabama is to have all persons with diabetes receive a baseline hearing test and a balance screening when they are first diagnosed with diabetes, and then monitored for best audiological medical management of this chronic disease. Our subsequent goals in Alabama are to increase awareness of signs and symptoms of diabetes a team health care providers can observe and use to make recommendations for follow-up care. We are reaching out to Alabama government agencies about the co-morbidity of chronic disease and hearing/balance problems. The Audiology Project cohort in Alabama is committed to educating healthcare professionals about this invisible handicap.
